IVF

The procedure is painless except for the minor pain of injections and that too the needle is very small like an insulin syringe so that is also painless in most of the cases.

One cycle of IVF takes about 3 weeks to complete.

Factors like shortness of breath, weight gain, mood swings, nausea or vomiting, bloating may be experienced by the mother. But these side effects don’t last long and only patients at high Amh may experience it.

Eggs can be used for fertilization only till the age of 45  so the age should not exceed above 45 -50.

IUI

There is about 10%-20% of getting pregnant by one cycle. More the number of cycles, the greater is the chance of getting pregnant.

IUI is not a hurtful procedure. Slight discomfort may be felt during the procedure but it lasts only till for only a few seconds and ends by the end of the procedure.

It’s always preferable to get an IUI done at the centre under an expert doctor as self insemination can lead to problems.

It takes about 3-6 cycles to get pregnant. But if one doesn’t get pregnant even after 3 cycles, other options should be considered.

ICSI

In ICSI, only a single sperm is injected into each egg whereas in IVF both the sperm and egg are kept in a dish to fertilize.

It takes about 3 weeks for the ICSI procedure to complete.

Yes, ICSI is a safe yet effective procedure for couples with infertility issues.

No, ICSI does not guarantee fertilization. The results depend upon the sperm quality and egg quality as they decide the quality of the embryo and hence the success rate.

Blastocyst Transfer

  The success rate for a blastocyst transfer is about 60%.

Generally, it takes about 1-2 days for the blastocyst to hatch from the shell and 5 days to implant after the transfer.

Maximum 2 blastocyst can be transferred into the womb of the patient as it has better implantation rates.

Laser Assisted Hatching

Yes, it’s a safe procedure as the laser shot is given in the outer shell of the embryo which does not affect the baby inside.

Yes, it can be done with frozen embryos.

Yes, LAH increases the chance of conception in cases where the outer membrane of the embryo is thick or patient has previous IVF failures.

Genetic Testing of Embryos

It takes about 7-10 days for the results to arrive for genetic testing of embryos.

No, genetic testing does not harm the embryo. There are no genetic abnormalities or risks involved in testing.

Women whose age ya more than 37 years have high chances of chromosomal abnormalities in the baby because of which sometimes they have to go for donor eggs but with help of PGS they can take a try for their egg as only healthy embryos free of abnormalities are being transferred.

Personalized Embryo Transfer

 It takes about 2-5 days to transfer the embryo after the egg retrieval. 

It takes about 15 minutes to transfer the embryo.

In the case of 30 percent, women’s window of implantation is different, and determining this window prior and transferring the embryo in this individualized window increases the chances of IVF success for couples.

In this, a small endometrial sample is taken and sent for genetic testing of the endometrium and the implantation window is determined based on which transfer is done.

Embryo Transfer Program

Frozen Embryo Transfer is usually painless and no sedatives are required before the procedure.

 The frozen embryo transfers itself within 3 weeks.
